The module provides the hardware interface from RS232 to RS422 or RS485 for a serial line. The key signals for interconnecting the module are TxD, RxD, and RTS on the RS232 side, and TX+/-, RX+/- for RS422, or D+ and D- for RS485, respectively.

It can be used either within the internal structure of systems requiring an RS422/485 serial line or as an external module (DIN-rail mountable), in which case it is equipped with a DB9 connector for RS232 connection.

It can be used in serial networks over distances of up to 1000 m. It has a 5V DC supply voltage.
